A Colorful Festival full of Dances and Smiles

                 

                Binatbatan Festival is commonly celebrated during the 3^rd of May or what we call “Tres de Mayo”. We celebrate Binatbatan Festival or Tres de Mayo to honor and thank Apo Lakay of Simbaan a Bassit for saving Vigan from a deadly pandemic in 1756. This festival also has a vast array of activities ranging from Food & Trade fair to Street dances for people and tourist to enjoy and have a memorable experience. But the one thing that shines the most in this festival is the Street Dancing.

            Street Dancing is commonly seen during some festivals in Vigan City. But now that we are celebrating Binatbatan Festival, there is another street dancing that most people are looking forward to. Common reasons why people anticipate this kind of activity is because of its nostalgic music and dances that are seen every year. Great music, choreography, and outfits that shines the most in Street dancing. Since the start of the pandemic, my parents would not let me see the street dancing that is held in some festivals in Vigan. But now that cases in our province or city have died down these past few months, I was given an opportunity to watch the street dancing again. I enjoyed watching it as it was my first-time watching street dancing after a year or two.

            All in all, Binatbatan Festival is a festival to commemorate and thank Apo Lakay for saving Vigan City and also to celebrate and have fun in the activities waiting on that festival. But let us not forget that there is still a pandemic happening so always wear your masks and have fun at the festival!
