A season to remember, A time opposite of December
Lenten Season is one of many events that are being
celebrated by Christians. Lenten Season is a season to reflect and prepare the
time for Easter. We Christians celebrate it to honor the death and resurrection
of Jesus Christ. Asides that, there are many things to do when Lenten season is
ongoing like fasting, abstaining to eat meat on certain days, praying, and
visiting churches on holy week. Since Covid-19 virus is still present in our
community and even if restrictions are slowly being lifted, we still need to
exercise caution and follow safety protocols to ensure our wellbeing.
The
types we Christians normally do in Lenten Season like fasting, abstaining to
eat meat, praying, and visiting churches. Now you might be curious as to why we
are doing this, well in short, we do this to better understand the sacrifices
that Jesus Christ made for humanity. In fasting, those ages 18-59 cannot eat on
a certain period of time on a day. Liquids are allowed and certain people like
people who are frail, pregnant, and manual laborers are excused in fasting.
Abstaining or restraining on eating meat on certain days like Fridays, ash
Wednesdays, and good Friday. Praying is an everyday thing that we Christians do
to. We pray on either thanking God, praying for good fortune or luck, praying
for the sick, and many more. Visiting churches on holy week is pretty common in
our place. What we do is visit churches on different cities and pray on that
church. We usually have a goal in reaching a certain number of churches we
visit.
To
wrap things up, Lenten Season is a season to remember or to better understand
the sacrifices that Jesus Christ made for humanity. We do certain things on
Lenten season like fasting, abstinence, praying, and visiting churches. But
Lenten season is not the only season that we need to worship God. Remember that
worshipping god is available at any time of the day everyday and we need not to
limit ourselves in worshipping god on certain events or season.
