A Moment to Celebrate History

The Vigan Fiesta Celebration is celebrated every 25th of January. Normally we celebrate it with a lot of carnivals, street dances, and many more. But now that a pandemic is currently happening, all of those events may not be possible to avoid the spread of the virus. Right now, we need to take care of ourselves to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The celebration of Vigan Fiesta may not be similar as it was before the pandemic happened. In the past, carnivals, street dances, and many more events are present every time we celebrate. The most common is the Kannawidan in where all of the cities in the province of Ilocos Sur take a local product in their place and sell it in the Kannawidan Festival. Since there is a pandemic happening, chances of those events happening now is slim as to prevent the spread of Covid-19. A lot of people are very saddened including me that most of the events in the celebration of Vigan Fiesta is not happening this year. But I can completely understand it as to protect ourselves from the virus.

To wrap it all up, the celebration of Vigan Fiesta may not be the same as it where in the past, but it is all done as to protect the people from Covid-19. Hopefully by next year we can return to our normal living and celebrate the events normally as it was in the past.
